課程概述

This course bridges the roles and functions of advanced specialist nurse practitioners to develop the core competencies of family specialist nurse practitioners (FNPs). The course, oriented to the disease symptom problems, enables students to integrate the relevant theories of disease physiopathology, etiology, evaluation, differential diagnosis, and treatment. This is a connecting continuum of the individual life cycle from birth, adolescents, women, adults and the aged to health and disease states. Based on health promotion, disease prevention, and diagnosis, and scientific knowledge of acute and chronic diseases, the course also strengthens collaboration and partnership between individual cases, families, and interprofessional teams. Whereas, it ultimately promotes and maintains the overall health of individuals, families, and communities. 

課程目標
After completing this course, students should be able to achieve the following objectives:

1. Understand the associations among the physiological, psychological, cultural factors, and social sciences as the basis for care of patients and their families from diverse backgrounds with selected common health problems.
2. Develop appropriate diagnoses and differential diagnoses based on analysis and interpretation of the history, presenting symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information for patients with selected common health problems.
3.Formulate plans for health problem management based on current scientific rationale and research, evidence-based practice guidelines and standards of care for patients with selected common health problems.
4.Demonstrate the ability of documenting the findings of physical assessment, diagnostic exams, and the progress of condition for patients with selected common health problems
5. Integrate the concept of health promotion, health education and empowerment to develop rigorous nursing management plans. 
課程要求
1. Presentation (30%): including contents, organizing presentation & leading discussion.
2. Written paper (30%): select a topic, synthesize the readings, and highlight the important points for discussion. Email your final paper to the instructor (12 font size, 1.5 space, 10 pages, 7th APA style).
